After you’ve finished the huge, arduous task that is waiting for your reviews, it’s time to actually do them. Start by clicking the “Start Reviews” button in the Reviews widget on your dashboard.

From there, you’ll see a quiz screen that’s very similar to the Lessons quiz you did before. Assuming you’re just starting out, you should see a radical displayed.

Simply write in the answer. In the case of the above example, you would type in “drop.”

Hit enter or submit to see if you got it right or wrong. Keep doing this until you’ve cleared all of your Reviews. When you have, it’s time to wait again.

Or if you have some spare time, and you want to re-study the ones you got wrong during your Reviews session, look for the Recent Mistakes widget on your dashboard. You should now see some items available there.

Just remember that the Recent Mistakes, and other Extra Study Reviews, is for practice only, and the results do not affect your progress overall.

Now that you have no Reviews or Recent Mistakes to work on, it would be a good time to learn how to customize your dashboard with more widgets, including Extra Study, so you can get the most out of your WaniKani experience.

Assuming you completed all your lessons already, all that’s left for you to do is keep doing Reviews. Since kanji unlocks are reliant on proving your radical knowledge over longer and longer periods, putting in correct answers here will move you forward faster. More information can be found on our Leveling Up page, but rest assured if you keep doing your Reviews on time you can unlock kanji in 2-3 days.
